June
6

Father's Day is on June 16th and will be here before you know it! While we think dads should definitely be celebrated year-round, we aren't going to pass up an opportunity to show him a little extra love. The big day is coming up fast, but if you haven't planned out your itinerary yet — don't worry! We've rounded up a list of some of our favorite dad-friendly activities in the area. From hitting the trail to spending the day at the spa, there are plenty of things you can do this Father's Day in the Cleveland area to show your appreciation!

Go Outside

This Father's Day, spend a little time outside. Whether you're looking to delve deep into nature on a summer hike or to spend the day wandering around the city on foot — there are plenty of ways to enjoy nature in Cleveland. Cleveland is one of the most bike-friendly cities around, with several bike trails, a community bike share program, and the Bike Rack: a bicycle parking lot located on East 4th Street. One of our favorite trails in the city is the Emerald Necklace Trail, which consists of over 70 miles of asphalt and trail bridges, featuring spectacular views of rich greenery and lush landscaping. For a more adventurous route, take the weekend to explore the famous Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail, which runs from Lake Erie to New Philadelphia! If biking isn't your dad's jam, Cleveland has so many other outdoor activities to offer, including rock climbing, surfing, fishing, kayaking and so much more!

Watch Some Wildlife

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest is a great way to spend Father's Day! Not only will you get the chance to traverse over 183 acres and meet wild animals, but you can also visit a unique rainforest attraction that offers dozens of more species to be wowed by! Explore interesting aquatic wildlife at the Cleveland Aquarium. Head down to the Flats district and enjoy exploring over 70,000 square feet of local and exotic species of fish. Plus, dads, stepdads and grandpas get free admission on their special day!   And, if you want to really wow him, take him on an epic train ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Every year, this tourist attraction provides special rides all day on Father's Day, from special crafting sessions to craft beer tastings — all while the beautiful northern Ohio countryside slides right past your window! These events sell out quickly, so make sure to call (800) 468-4070 or visit their website to make a reservation.

Admire Classic Cars

Father's Day in Cleveland Head down to the Stan Hywet Gardens in Akron for their 62nd Annual Father's Day Car Show! There you can peruse over 400 classic, antique and collector cars manufactured from 1915-1944. Afterward, stay to explore the stunning mansion, the breathtaking gardens and enjoy some of their other fun festivities like natural crafts, live music and the pedal car racetrack for the youngest of car enthusiasts!

Go on a Brewery Tour

Cleveland is home to so many incredible craft breweries, each with a different style and personality. Spend Father's day trying to visit a few (or all!) local breweries that you haven't tried yet. A self-guided brewery crawl is flexible and allows you the time to enjoy each space (and share a beer or two) with your dad. We recommend starting off with a stop at the Cleveland Visitor's Center (even if you've been here your entire life) to pick up a Cleveland Brewery Passport, which will make your self-guided tour even more fun! Then head to a local brewery and get a server to stamp your passport. A couple of our favorites include the Brew Kettle, the Great Lakes Brewing Company, Terrestrial Brewing Company and the Jolly Scholar. After you've spent the day partaking in some of our delicious, local brews and exploring the city — stop back by the Visitor's Center and turn in your passport for the chance to win fabulous prizes!

Enjoy a Delicious Meal

One of the best ways to show your father figure a great time is to treat him to a delicious meal! Whether you're looking to sit down to a relaxing brunch, a casual lunch or a luxurious dinner — Cleveland's highly rated restaurant scene never disappoints. For brunch, we recommend Architectural Justice, a European-style cafe that is stunningly designed and offers sophisticated dishes and to-die-for coffee. Or, pay a visit to Astoria Cafe and Market, where you can peruse the eclectic market before sitting down to eat! If you're looking to spoil your dad with a fancy dinner, why not get dressed up and head to the Blue Point Grille, an upscale seafood restaurant located in the heart of downtown. They offer the freshest seafood around, along with breathtaking views of the skyline. We also highly recommend LockKeepers, a hidden gem in Valley View that has the best overlook of the Cuyahoga River in the city. Or put a personal touch on the day by making a meal yourself! We have complete faith in you. For ingredients, stop by a local farmers' market where you can explore all of the different booths and get tips from the ingredient growers themselves. Top it all off with a bottle of wine from Heinen's and it will be a meal your dad won't ever forget.

Take Him to Get Pampered

Spa days aren't just for the ladies — so why not take your dad to get pampered on his special day? Head over to the Sacred Hour Wellness Spa in Lakewood and set him up with a massage, facial or wrap. And, if you want to be pampered alongside your dad, call and reserve a Spa Party, where you can get a relaxing massage, manicures, facials, body scrubs and a steam! Afterward, feel free to settle into one of their private yoga classes and put both your mind and body at peace.

Learn Something New

Cleveland is full of opportunities to learn, so why not spend the day learning something new with your dad? We're home to some of the best museums in the Midwest, so whether your dad loves science, history, art or Rock and Roll — there's a place where he can geek out about it. Explore the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an iconic, music-minded museum filled with pop culture memorabilia. Peruse art at the Cleveland Art Museum, where the buildings, which are connected by a stunning atrium, are just as much a part of the experience as the paintings and sculptures. Pop by the A Christmas Story House & Museum, the home where the classic Christmas movie was filmed (you can even stay there for the night if you're looking to get a "Christmas in June" experience). Or stop by the Great Lakes Science Center, a renowned museum and education facility where you can learn all about the environment of the Great Lakes region of the United States.

See a Show

Treat your dad by taking him to see his most anticipated film of the year. For a classic movie-going experience, pay a visit to the Capitol Theater, a historic theater that was built in 1921. Or visit Aut-O-Rama in North Ridgeville, a drive-in theater where you can hang out in the comfort of your car or bring lawn chairs and a blanket to sit on! Cleveland also happens to be home to an amazing performing arts scene. Besides New York City's Lincoln Center, we have the largest performing arts center in the United States: Playhouse Square. This theater district is full of glamorous theaters that draw well over a million visitors annually. There are plenty of shows lined up for this Father's Day weekend, so get dressed up and hit the town for his favorite comedic or musical act!

Happy Father's Day!
